    Holman and Moody complained to Nascar about the 426 wedge engines after the Firecracker 400.
    Of course, Nascar caved!!

    The 305 powered Daytona led the race on a few occasions. If it wasn’t involved in the Hamilton wreck, who knows how high it could have finished.

    1971, right? I just looked it up and the next 3 Firecracker races were won by Pearson in the Woods Bros Merc.
