Unless it was designed as a cargo van in the first place.

Why I want a passenger van is like the one I had,,a 1990 chevy sport van. A full size van for the serious do it yourselfer but with a plain interior. But when you want to you can put the seats in it for vacation and the soccer team.

A minivan still holds eight, right? Next up is 10.

Depends on the minivan - GC and T&C only hold 7. Specific models of the Odyssey and (I think) the Sienna can hold 8.

A 10-passenger minivan wouldn't really be "mini" anymore, would it?

    Interesting. Older GCs/T&Cs held eight.

Only if you had two three-position bench seats installed.

    Front: 2
2nd row: 2, either in buckets or bench
    3rd row: 3

They used to have second row benches with three positions, didn't they?

I cannot recall if they did, or if enterprising owners simply sourced 3-seat benches as needed.

I have seen '96s in Voyager trim with the 2nd row bench w/3 seatbelts. My '93 had the floor hardware for both the bench and the captains' chairs. There were plastic plugs for the unused sockets.

Dave, they had the anchors for eight, but only ever FACTORY came with seven. I have done the switcheroo and put eight, but THAT was a load on vacation. LOL.

You appear to be correct. The 1984-90 models had at most seven passengers. Ditto 1991-95. No info on the '96-2000. 2001-07 were seven. I stand corrected.

If someone did put a 3 person bench in the middle, it would be hard to access the back row.

I remember riding in about a '98 Grand Voyager rental that had a 3-person bench in the center. IIRC about a third of the middle seat back folded forward to allow access to the rear seat. Were there similar seats available for rental fleets but not for individual buyers?

I do beleive there was a brief 8 passenger version of the Caravan/Voyager. For a year or two the minivans offered a splt bench up front which could hold 3. Then I guess if you swapped in an extra 3 person rear seat you could have had 9 in those early minivans.
