FCA started to ship Jeep Compass to Australia (and Japan) from the plant in India (a joint venture with Tata) at the end of october 2017.

The fluctation of exchange rates will be an important factor.
In 2015 australian dollar was very weak ("commodity prices crash", now there is a high).

The new Compass, new Wrangler and facelifted Cherokee could maybe help change perceptions in Australia?

FCA is putting effort into Australia, it seems: there was a story on the Allpar news this week that New South Wales will replace its old (Australian-built) Ford and GM pursuit cars with Hemi-powered 300s

    - Aussies go for Mopar squads

NSW is the most populous state in Australia - it contains the country's largest city, Sydney, as well as over a third of the Australian population, so this deal could generate a bit more exposure to FCA products than previously. Chrysler sells the 300 in Australia; Dodge Cars left the market in 2015, but Ram trucks are still sold there as a standalone brand.

    It's about time!

I've always thought the former Chrysler Corporation should have made much better use of Chrysler Australia. Those 1970's Hemi Slant 6's should have found their way into North American Mopar products.....and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

How sad such a valuable resource was so neglected and mismanaged.
