    And
I expect the next stage after any annoucement of a partnership of FCA and Renault is the French Government selling its controlling stock in Renault to EXOR leaving John Elkann as THE power of Alliance.
From then, John will name himself as Nissan's Chairman (and maybe CEO as well) to shutdown any Nissan's "Independence movement" within Tokyo.

The talks between Renault and FCA, however, are focused on the potential for extensive cooperation that goes beyond the companies' existing manufacturing partnership, and could "include joining large portions of their businesses," the Journal reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

Hey, what is you thoughts on the possibility of France selling their stock in Renault to Exor? Isn't the beef Tokyo got with a merger is Nissan becoming a "French Company"?

At some point, if Tesla’s stock price drops enough, a hostile bid for Tesla gonna make a lot of sense for one of these European automakers...and with FCA having both a European and US presence, I would say makes lot of sense for FCA...

Tesla stock would need to fall below $40 for that to be a likelihood.
Maybe Samsung would join in with FCA.

Nope, Renault is sick of Nissan's opposing "full marriage" and sick of playing "long-term boyfriend & girlfriend".

I just looked at the March numbers for Germany. While Renault sells more cars there (12k versus 10k) the top Renault was the Twingo with 2200 sales versus Fiat with 3400 500 sales.
Jeep sold 1800. VW Group is always amazing over there with 128k vehicles.... Nobody else comes even close.

The one big thing is Russia.... FCA (assuming acquiring Renault) would be Russia's largest car company and would have almost a Joint Venture with the Russian Government ...AvtoVaz.
That means FCA and Michigan Democrats will have LONG, LONG discussion about Russian sanctions.

Maybe, also we could check which other others companies Exor got in share or stake?

How ironic would it be if Renault got absorbed by FCA.

That's all FCA needs, more brands. They can't manage the brands they have now.

From the sound of your statement...does this mean that FCA has a larger market cap than Renault alone (minus Nissan)?

I'm not sure about the market cap. Someone pointed out what if Exor acquired the French govt share of Renault. If that happened and FCA came out on top, then the Jeep curse would be over.

The way I look into these kind of stuff is FCA needs some kinda financial and technological partner to develop and make A-/B- cars/crossovers and C- segment cars.

    Yep,
EXOR would purchase French Government stake in Renault, giving them control of Renault's Board and therefore power at Nissan..
Not that it matters, but FCA's market cap is bigger than Renault.
