The official results of the Brazilian market in September will be released by Fenabrave tomorrow (10/02), but Renavam's preliminary figures show the Fiat Strada at the top of the preference, with 11,873 license plates - the last time the Italian brand's pickup was the vehicle. No. 1 in the country had been in March 2015.

But the dispute was not easy: the Chevrolet Onix was on the tail, with 11,710 license plates. Who also had a strong month was the VW Gol , with more than 9 thousand units (9,134), ahead of the Hyundai HB20 (8,565). Close to 8 thousand units, the Fiat Argo (7,985) completed the top 5. No. 1 among the sedans, the Chevrolet Onix Plus registered 7,093 units.

The North American brand also ensured the position of honor among SUVs / crossovers with the Tracker (6,403). Jeep registered its two representatives in the top 10 - Compass (6,042) and Renegade (5,748) -, with the Ford Ka (5,956) between them. In a strong month for Fiat, Toro (5,580) and Mobi (5,447) secured four models of the brand among the first twelve.

Fiat Strada supera Chevrolet Onix e se torna o carro mais vendido de setembro (at https://motor1.uol.com.br/news/446810/vendas-parcial-outubro-strada-onix/ )

FCA is manufacturing the old, only in the single cab version (hard working), and the new model that whose sales started in july 2020.
Demand for the new Fiat Strada is higher than expected, so FCA had to revise the production to increase rate. Waiting list was in august more than 60 days with top trim level being more than 25% of the sales.

Usually more higher mix of higher end trims means higher margin. Good, good...

In last days they announced an "opening edition" of 250 units that for options sits over the Volcano that is the highest trim level.

Also in the last year / year and half entered in Fiat Toro lineup two new higher trim level, the Ultra and the Ranch.
The Ultra has the rear cover for the bed.

I really cannot understand FCA’s global marketing guys. The Strada, the Tipo sedan and maybe the Doblo should be produced and marketed in various Asian markets. Yet sadly most markets don’t even have a representative.

I wonder how Chevy will do in Brazil in the upcoming years now they can't rely on Opel for their platforms anymore?

GM Korea did the engineering on Opel’s final models in Europe; When the Chevrolet brand was launched in Europe*, it was almost all GM Korea (ex-Daewoo) product, either Korean or US-built. None of it was any good.

Chevrolet Europe was a piece of corporate ego that makes FIAT’s US launch look like cold pragmatism: say what you want about FIAT’s progress in the USA, but at least FIAT chose to bring in a product that was greatly loved in its home market. People did know Chevrolet over here, but mainly for Camaros and 1950s hot-rods. The modern product, though, was old Daewoo models that combined the soulless cost-cutting people expect from budget Korean cars with the sloppy assembly standards people expected from American cars.
The effort lasted just seven years, ending in 2013. The year after this brand withdrawal, GM signed a seven-year deal with British football club Manchester United to carry the brand as its main shirt sponsor, possibly one of the worst-timed sponsorship deals ever (GM had a knack for badly timing things).

This is going to be the Ram 700 in Mexico. I bet it'll do great over there as well. :)

We need a short cab long bed version of the Toro sent here. I love the styling of the Strada/Ram 700, but would like it on a larger platform.

The point of the Strada is bing small and cheap. I do agree that the Toro should be sent to the US and Europe though.
I think that the Ram face looks better on the Strada than the Fiat face.

The Ram face looks great. I wish they could do something similar for the Toro.

I think a Toro would make a great Ram. There are a lot of people that don't need a 1500 for weekend projects and garden supplies. Since the compact sedan/hatchback is dead the Toro may be hitting the next growth market.
