    Coronavirus outbreak.

"... The 90th edition of the GIMS, which was supposed to welcome the media from next Monday and the general public from 5 to 15 March 2020, will now finally not take place. This is an injonction decision of the Federal Council of 28 February 2020 that no events with more than 1,000 people are allowed to take place until 15 March 2020. The decision falls 3 days before the opening of the exhibition to the media. ..."

It looks like that the 90th edition is cancelled, not postponed.
Stands and exposition spaces are being dismantled.

Also Baselworld watch fair cancelled (one of the largest world watch fairs).

Also few time ago was cancelled the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Spain), that is the largest mobile phone fair in the world.

Also today was announced that IBT Berlin, one of the largest world travel trade fairs was cancelled. About 110k trade visitors goes to Berlin for that fair.

Few days ago was postponed the 50th MIDO in Milan (Italy) that is world largest eyewear trade fair.

This virus? is causing some real economic damage world wide, and doesn't look to end soon.

The problem is not the fear, nor the number of deaths (anyway deaths are always too high), but the fact that spreading is easy and the number of persons that need hospitalization in semi-intensive and intensive care.
The ones needing intensive care are up to about 9%, that is 90 every 1000, 90k every million.
There are not enough intensive care beds + hospital personnel needed.

It also doesn't help that we get so much from China and now that they are basically shut down, it won't be long before we (US) start to feel the effects of not getting those shipments from China. ;)

Especially since the 1st person to die in the US from the virus had no travel history or contact with anyone who had been to an affected area. So just exactly how did that person get the virus? o_O

There's already been a run on stores for masks and sanitizer and there's reports of people stock piling and hoarding food.

What's next, you get your survival kit together and tape up all the doors and window cracks and other openings to your home and hibernate :(

Could be the end of the show. Relations were never very cordial between exhibitors and organizers, and this extremely short notice cancellation has left many considering running their own events in future. Ford and Volvo had decided (pre-Coronavirus) not to exhibit at all this year - in Ford's case, you could cite cost-cutting, but Volvo definitely has a marketing budget to spend.

All cars, that were supposed to be presented in Geneva, will be presented online in same sequence scheduled for "live" presentations.
There will be the digital Geneva auto show.

Actually, some emergency preparedness is always a good idea.

FCA was not part of it. I have a feeling that FCA will skip next year's show unless organizers give them spot for free.
