But, that's reality.
Yes, in badly run companies.
EMC had a reputation for holding huge job fairs, hiring 1,000 people for a project and discarding over 700 of them at the end. It was their way of performance management, it was brutal and insulting. But it made it easier for them to fire a bunch instead of evaluating them and matching their skills to current projects.
The twitter account (FCA - NA Careers (@FCA_NACareers) | Twitter (at https://twitter.com/fca_nacareers?lang=en )) puts out some interesting open positions from time to time.
Too bad I'm in Okinawa at the moment.
Still waiting to hear if I got the position. I know I'm still in consideration, just haven't heard yes/no.
I check in with my recruiter every day/every 2 days
Jobs open at Trenton (at https://www.allpar.com/news/2017/06/jobs-open-at-trenton-37953 )

Back in Auburn Hills tonight for a job interview tomorrow morning
Hopefully the next time I come up, I'll be moving here
Good luck with the interview
Good things come to those who never, ever give up.

I'm shocked and stunned, beyond belief.
As the old saying goes: dreams, they do come true.
That is awesome!
Welcome to FCA!
Congratulations. Job well done, now keep up the good work.
I'll add my congratulations. Any idea what your assignment(s) will be?
Once you get there, be sure to tell them how much you like motorsports and that they should be participating in Nascar and all other major forms of US Motorsports .
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing this journey. It has been an enjoyable trip to observe. Best of luck in your engineering career. I'm in my 37th year and wouldn't change my choice.
I'll be working on chassis mounts: engine, body, trans
The motorsports thing might be above my paygrade right now, but I'll try
Something to aspire to. I don't know about pay grade but there might actually be less internal competition for those type of slots, if they even exist these days (Fast Eddie might know). Working in motorsports programs often involves lots of travel and weekend work. A lot of family guys don't want that.
