This is what happens when you put smooth thread car tires on a Jeep. Prototype or not. It’s why I had to buy new tires for my Gladiator.

Yup, tires can make or break you.

Two wheels/tires were on dry pavement. Either this vehicle didn't have a limited slip rear end, or the driver has no clue what he's doing. Maybe, since it was a prototype, the driver, in this case isn't allowed to get "rough" with the vehicle. Whatever the reason it's not a good look for an upcoming Jeep. I guess some still don't believe that most everything that goes on, there's a camera nearby.

A 1/4 to 1/3 of the tire were touching dry pavement and the weight was all on the tires in the mud. It was gonna keep spinning no matter what since it was already dug in, you see it all the time with trucks in the sand too

This is why every Jeep should have tow hooks front and rear regardless. Easy pullout if those are in place.

And some people really don't understand 4wd/AWD. Today, if it isn't automatically engaged they're lost. My daughter comes to mind in this pic. She got stuck just like this in her Wrangler. I climbed in put it in 4wd which seemed she thought engaged automatically, and walked right out of the ditch on highway tires. I know some are going to defend this, and that's ok, but as a Jeep it just looks bad. Range Rover will probably make a commercial out of it.

People aren’t going to remember this by the time the Grand Wagoneer launches. And Land Rover would never make a commercial out of this; that would be officially recognizing the Grand Wagoneer as a competitor to the Range Rover.

Those are WK2 tail lights. I would love to see how they piece prototype builds together, it's kind of amazing it works at all in the first place. I mean, wouldn't the ECU and BCM start freaking out using hacked together parts?

Who knows, maybe it wasn't even 4wd either. Photographers do seem however to never miss a beat when something like this happens to FCA.

20 plus years ago, Motor Trend our Auto Week had an off-road comparison of SUVs and Chrysler sent a Grand Cherokee with Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires. Guess which SUV had to be winched out by a British SUV?

Didn’t seem to hurt Grand Cherokee sales.

When I bought my 89 XJ it came with Michelin XC All Terrain (almost a mini mud tread) tires.
When I bought my 01 XJ it came with Goodyear Wrangler HP (street) tires.

From the photos it, looking at the zones with missing grass, looks like the vehicle was touching the groiund with the parts of the underbody.
In that condition it will very unlikely to move.

Also consider that in many situation grass with muddy under it in a slope is something You don't want to try... You simply start to slide slowy without any control. So better to leave the vehicle and call for help.
I know from personal experience, well my slope was higher degree and the fall would be longer.

its really looking like the D pillar, and the shape of the rear end is going to be very similar to the original Wagoneer.

It doesn't look like it ever spun the front wheel.
It may not even be 4WD/AWD. I assume there will be RWD versions?

Yes and the next generation Grand Cherokee has a similar D-pillar shape as well.

I looked at the pics that another website posted. There was no front drive axles on this vehicle. That would explain why there was no spin mud on the front. No wonder it got stuck.
