LOL a drag race with that mustang. I had a 70 Roadrunner 4 speed pistel grip with a bench seat. Back in the mid 70's with the gas crunch you could pick them up super cheap.

I was like .. "good luck mustang" .. because with the Camera car in front, I don't think Jay was going to do jack [bleep] with the mustang other than Rev. xD

For two supposedly avid MOPAR fans I was surprised by how little they knew about the Daytona and Superbird.

The side exit exhaust was illegal in some sates, as used on the Challenger T/A and AAR Cuda, which caused problems depending on how strict the state was.
In fact, one state still had side exit exhaust prohibition laws in place in the 1990's until Chrysler persuaded them to relax the laws because of the upcoming Viper.

Exactly...if you lose to one of those you just didn't race long enough.
Anyone know what the topend of a stock '70 bird 4-speed was with the Hemi? 180?

Buddy Baker in the #88 Chrysler Engineering Dodge Charger Daytona was the first driver in NASCAR history to break the 200 mph mark on March 24, 1970 at Talladega. The Daytona had already set the closed course record for a NASCAR-legal car at 201.104 MPH. They decided to take it to Bonneville and see what it would do on the Salt Flats. There, they set a couple of dozen records including one that is still awe-inspiring: The car covered a flying mile at an average speed of 216.945 MPH.

Yes, we know the body is fully capable of over 200mph...but I've never seen what a stock one would do top-end. I guess we could come close knowing the 70 Hemi red-line and gears/rear end ratio. Can't seem to find any top-end tests being a 1 yr car and very little sold.

There were gear ratios offered from 3.23 to 4:10 with the Hemi or 440.
I'd assume the engines were powerful enough that the 3.23 would provide the best top speed, though the acceleration rate would be less than the 4:10 or 3.55 gears.

    That is true. I had a 71 440+6 4 gear with 391's
Not really a top end car.
    His 70 had 323's
Fun was putting 360 blocks punched out .03 with a 520 lift cam and 202 heads into a 318 dart.. you bury the speedo.....

Ran a 15" rim 26" dia tire with 3.23 gears @ 165 mph through the Wallace racing calculator
    Would require 6,887.35 rpm
