They are currently testing mules now with the new corporate RWD platform (using old Quattroporte bodies with noticeably shorter wheelbases) and the Maserati's will be first to see iterations of the brand new platform / architecture. Some false rumors indicate the car will be based on the current Chrysler 300 / Dodge Charger LX platform but this is wrong
Maserati's sourced platform/architecture is nice to be seen under the next 300/Charger. The current 290/305hp 3.6 V6 is nice in the Charger/Challenger/300, but 320hp or 340hp will be better, which is almost reaching the rating of the first 5.7HEMI.

Some false rumors indicate the car will be based on the current Chrysler 300 / Dodge Charger LX platform but this is wrong, they are building an all new Corporate RWD platform and the Maserati's will see it first in 2014~ while the Mopar twins will get their version of it when the new versions of those cars come out in 2016.
Also know that a platform is simply a set of measurements and dimensions, doesn't mean they actually share parts. The only thing they may share are things like the cowl height and wheelbase...
