My father is an immigrant. He had a Chrysler New Yorker with the 2.2 Turbo. The first time he heard that message, he asked: "What does my door have to do with a jar?"
Nice list, but it's PROGRAM codes and not PLATFORM codes, for the most part. An example being that the Aspen and Durango are on the same platform but have unique program (HC and HB, respectively) codes. CT has been cancelled. EB was replaced by PV, and both have been cancelled. GA61 was the production version of the Dodge M80 concept....cancelled. HH has been cancelled. JC49 is the code for the Dodge "crossover" and the Chinese-built Chrysler "crossover." JZ49 is the Chrysler version of the Dodge "crossover." L2 is the Chinese Chrysler 300. LE41 is not "export" but "Europe." LH207 was the Chrysler LHS/New Yorker for 1994-1997. LX41 is the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, LX48 is the wagon version of the 300, LX49 is the Magnum LY41 is the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, LY48 is the wagon version of the 300, LY49 is the Magnum MK49 is the Jeep Compass MK74 is the Jeep Patriot PT27 is the Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible PT44 is the Chrysler PT Cruiser PW might have been the full sized vans. RG is the European Chrysler Voyager. RM is the Volkswagen version of the Chrysler minivan WH is the European Jeep Grand Cherokee WL was to be a Jeep "crossover" based on the Grand Cherokee...but it might have been cancelled. XH is the European Jeep Commander XL74 was to be the next-generation Jeep Commander but has been replaced by WK75 ZH27 is the Chrysler Crossfire roadster, ZH29 is Chrysler Crossfire Those are the ones I've noticed. How about looking into the "VT" code?
Thanks Hudson, appreciate the input. I have a couple of questions: 1. I listed "WH" and "XH" as "export", you say "European"... but, WH & XH represent not only Europe but most of the rest of the world outside of NA. 2. "XL74" replaced by WK75?, I'm a little confused here - export models? Why would Commander go to "WK75"? Did you mean XL75?
Some of these are incorrect, there is no 300/Charger "LX41" or "LY41" that I am aware of. Also the wagon versions of the 300 are "LE".
WH and XH are European...as in built in Europe. XL was the next Commander, but that has been cancelled. The next 7-passenger SUV will be a Grand Cherokee (enlarged, I assume) and will accompany the 5-passenger Grand Cherokee (WK74). The European-built versions will be WH74 (5-passenger) and WH75 (7-passenger). That's my assumption. Chrysler doesn't have much of a pressence in Asia and they're already planning versions built in Mexico, so I can't see them coming to North America. LE, from my Chrysler contacts, is for "Europe"...as in both sedan and wagon versions. LX41 is the sedan version of the current generation 300 and Charger. Wagon versions use the "49" designator (LX49 or LY49) from the same contact.
Pretty sure the 300 and Charger sedans are both LX 48, NOT LX 41 300 is LX Cx 48 Charger LX Dx 48 I have the CG body codes in my computer.
The codes go a little deeper, too...to 6 characters. I might have it figured out - at least a little bit anyway. 1st - Body Code 2nd - Model or "subcode" 3rd - drivetrain (2WD or 4WD) 4th - trim (base/mid/top/SRT) 5th & 6th - body style EXAMPLE: Jeep Compass Sport = MKTH49 MK = Compass T=2WD H=Sport 49=wagon EXAMPLE: Jeep Compass Limited 4WD = MKJP49 MK=Compass J=4WD P=Limited 49=wagon Here's some more - for you puzzle folks: PTCH44 - Chrysler PT Cruiser PTCP44 - Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring PTCS44 - Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited PTCH27 - Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible JSCH41 - Chrysler Sebring Sedan JSCP41 - Chrysler Sebring Touring Sedan LXCH48 = Chrysler 300 Sedan LXCP48 = Chrysler 300 Touring Sedan LXFP48 = Chrysler 300 Touring AWD Sedan LXCS48 = Chrysler 300C Hemi Sedan LXFS48 = Chrysler 300C Hemi AWD Sedan LXCX48 = Chrysler 300 SRT-8 LXDH48 = Dodge Charger SE LXEH48 = Dodge Charger SE AWD LXDP48 = Dodge Charger R/T LXEP48 = Dodge Charger R/T AWD LXDP49 = Dodge Magnum R/T HG5P74 - Chrysler Aspen Limited 4WD HB5H74 - Dodge Durango SLT 4WD HB5M74 - Dodge Durango SXT 4WD KA5P74 - Dodge Nitro SLT 4WD KA5L74 - Dodge Nitro SXT 4WD KJJH74 - Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD DR6H41 - Dodge Ram 1500 SLT QuadCab 4WD SB DH7H42 - Dodge Ram 2500 SLT QuadCab 4WD LB DH7H41 - Dodge Ram 2500 SLT QuadCab 4WD SB DH7L41 - Dodge Ram 2500 ST QuadCab 4WD SB PMDL49 - Dodge Caliber PMDX49 - Dodge Caliber R/T ND5H33 - Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 4WD SB
I thought we had started a thread on the body style codes - maybe I missed it elsewhere? 23 = 2-door coupe (?) 27 = 2-door convertible 29 = 2-door coupe (?) 33 = club-cab pickup (?) 41 = 4-door FWD sedan / 41 = 4-door short-bed pickup (?) 42 = 4-door long-bed pickup (?) 44 = 4-door FWD wagon (?) 48 = 4-door RWD sedan 49 = 4-door crossover 72 = 2-door SUV 74 = 4-door SUV (5-passenger) 75 = 4-door SUV (7-passenger)
I think you are right on 29 - the Stratus/Sebring coupes were ST29, IIRC - and they had full B-pillars... Hmm. If the Dakota is 33, there's no pillar in a Club Cab, is there? UPDATED... 23 = 2-door hardtop 27 = 2-door convertible 29 = 2-door coupe 33 = club-cab pickup (?) 41 = 4-door FWD sedan / 41 = 4-door short-bed pickup (?) 42 = 4-door long-bed pickup (?) 44 = 4-door FWD wagon (?) 48 = 4-door RWD sedan 49 = 4-door crossover 72 = 2-door SUV 74 = 4-door SUV (5-passenger) 75 = 4-door SUV (7-passenger)
Notes or additions: 33 - Dakota and MMC club cabs 41 - Ram 1500/2500/3500 quad cab (including SRT) 41 - Ram 3500 regular cab 42 - Ram 2500/3500 quad cab 44 - PT Cruiser 52 - Caravan SXT 53 - Grand Caravan SE / T&C Limited and T&C LX 61 - Ram 1500 regular cab (including SRT) 62 - Ram 2500/3500 regular cab 64 - Ram 4000 cab chassis 84 - Dakota and MMC Quad cabs
I started an Excel spreadsheet for the 6-digit codes sometime back and it started to get pretty confusing. I have about 120 listings but never pursued it because the codes seemed "endless". If it's worthwhile I can post what I have sometime. maybe someone will want to continue the "project". Here are a few that I found for the Avenger: Avenger SE = JSDH41 Avenger SXT = JSDP41 Avenger R/T = JSDX41
