Aight; another few photoshops. One is simply a color swap of the original body. Something I think would've gone over better on camera. Black where white is, and white where black is. The second one is the color swap and added signature body line of the SJ, moved the door emblem to the rear, and did the old-school shaped window. Third is just the window and moved emblem. Fourth is the same as the second but with no color swap.

[edit: seems it didn't upload in order. Sorry for that, but you'll figure it out, lol. Open in full resolution to see it better]

100% better. They could do this. I know people from FCA are reading this - guys, you can get the suppliers to do this, it can still be saved. There isn't a single person on the program who after seeing this wouldn't want to put in the hustle to make this happen.

Wow, adding that character line along the side makes a HUGE difference. It breaks up that huge slab sided appearance.

I wouldn't think it would be possible now, that level of detail would be well baked in by this point. I expect it wouldn't even change in a refresh since that's typically limited to front and rear fascias.

I have to say, “fixing” the 3rd row window alone would be a welcome improvement.

    Agreed.

A six month delay to fix this though - we could be talking thousands of sales over the seven or eight year program length.

If this was a 'concept', what exactly could change before launch?

Thank you, this is just what I was asking for. It’s just much more interesting to look at than the blob in white they gave us.

Yeah; it was a 100% wrong color choice for a black backgrounded video reveal in the first place. It looked like the top was missing. BUT the body-line really gives it more Wagoneer without abandoning the rest of the design. Pulling it back from the headlights also affords it the ability to keep the modern front fascia.

I like that tan. The red and blue are good also.
Significant improvement overall, especially to the 3rd window.

Some guy on another site was insisting that this is simply a Grand Commander with new sheet metal because “the windshield shape looks the same.”

Yes, but why go out of your way to make it look luxurious when you can just use Chevrolet parts? This is GM, after all: home of the world famous cost-cutting.

There's gotta be an engineering/compliance reason they couldn't do the D-pillar the way it should have been done. It's just too obvious. That part has the 95% of complexity in terms of refactoring because it impacts all the structural stuff.

The rest of the body panels could be redone more easily.

With big solid fat D-pillar they can save a lot of car's weight.

You've made it look so much better! But I would still do something to minimzie the B and C pillars as well. They seem so....clunky on the vehicle. Especially since they were so elegant on the original. And none of that would need to be via reengineering...I could be simply making those two pillars the same/similar color as the windows. Combine that change with what you have done, and it would look outstanding.

Personally, I think the design is awful. I'll likely never be in the position where making a $100k vehicle purchase is an option, but the design as presented does not make me desire owning it. I think most of the angles I've seen are bad, but seeing the side is the worst. It reminds me simeotaneously of an old minivan and a GMC Envoy.

There are faults with FCA that I've been willing to overlook in the past because at the end of the day, the vehicles looked cool. If they continue to warm over things in the styling department, you'll be left with expensive vehicles prone to quality and reliability issues that look like the competition...And customers will go elsewhere. I guess it's nice they have decided to chase the dream of selling high-end luxury vehicles, but if they were really set on doing that, they should have fixed the glaring issues in dealerships, service departments, and quality/reliability 10 years ago.

You meant "LX interiors," right? :D

Except it's not well integrated for use with the map, the screen portion being very short, wide, and asymetrical. Form should follow function.
