I clicked on that story, " hey ive seen these like 2 months ago".
What’s old is new again?
Little collab between @suzq044 and I.
The shoulder line gives it a nostalgic classic design..
It already looks older than WK2.
It's almost like they went backwards a little....
I am glad they have a very sharp cutoff as to not blind the oncoming traffic as with people who are putting aftermarket HID and LEDs in lamp housings that are not designed for these lamps.
I really hope this isn't it. No disrespect to the folks that created this, but, no one will think this is all new. It looks so much like the current one, which I realize that don't mess with what works, but it could be something a bit different.
After such a long wait too.
It'll be different enough. The fact is, basing the image on the current gen is going to have that effect, because that is what I worked with.
The image I had to work from; the spy image, the vehicle looks wider.. not something I could pull off very well in a side view, but I really dig the shoulder line, even if I see a little LR in the design.
Thanks for the effort. I imagine it’s hard to incorporate speculated details (or hints from insiders) into a rendering based upon the current model, without it looking like the current model in most aspects. After all, it’s a new Grand Cherokee...it’s going to look like a Grand Cherokee...meaning, I doubt it will be radically different.
Grand Cherokees have looked rather similar over the years. Yes, styling changes, but basic overall shape is similar. Form follows function, and it’s a recipe that has worked as GC has been very popular over the years.
Yes, I’m rambling. It’s just nice to be able to talk about something ELSE right now.
You're welcome, and tell me about it. lol
I want to thank you for the work you did first off. Let me clarify my statement if I could. I was a huge fan of the WJ and it's look and profile. The WK was panned but sold well and if it had lost the Mercedes front end and had a better interior, it would sold better I believe. The current Grand looks sharp in front, but I've never been a fan of the stubby back end. I was hoping it would change in that regard, but apparently not. Maybe the three row will. Again, thanks for all you do.
The dished in sides of the current Grand Cherokee have never done anything for me. I would like to see that disappear. Heck, make the doors flatter and dish the door panels outward for more room inside.
The sides actually are much flatter than what I was able to pull off. Like I said, started with the current gc, so some of it is still going to be there
Side proportions are not different? For example longer front axle - cabin distance. I.e. side view more similar to some Range Rover models.
Why is that dimension longer?
It's actually longer in my rendering. It's also much more square. If you'd like to see the original.. here you go.. lol - It's on the Jeep website.
I like WK .. boxy style
