This would be unusual and interesting if it happens. As far as I know, Dodge has been the only manufacturer that has small (D50) medium (Dakota) and large (D150/250/350) pickups in the showroom at the same time (for the few years D50 and Dakota overlapped). Of course, Dakota was the only mid-size pickup back then.

I think it's unfortunate that the green light was never given for this concept. As a Dodge "lifestyle" pick-up...(without the added weight and cost making it a Jeep would entail)...with an affordable price point, I think this would have had quite a bit of appeal...especially for those who are not "dyed-in-the-wool" truck people.

At least then...people wouldn't complain that it was almost the same size and price as the 1500!

Yup, it does look like they took it right off a Wrangler. :D

I’m looking forward to seeing better pics, but it’s an interesting vehicle for sure. I’m curious to see what it can do and it’s features.

I think there are plenty of people that still want conservatively styled, boxy, upright vehicles that put practicality above overdone styling.
But size is important. If the Bronco Sport has more cargo space than the Renegade that will be a big selling point.

From what I've read, it is based on the Escape platform, so it will probably be closer to the Cherokee than Renegade. I'm curious to see the specs when everything is official.

Yea I agree the Bronco Sport wins on those styling points and if it has the interior space it will win.

I have a bit of a hankering to turn a PT Cruiser 2 door convertible, into a mini ute.

Remove the rear seats, install a rear plastic floor/sides, install a rollbar and low barrier behind the driver, run the soft top to the rollbar, and convert the rear tailgate to a drop down type.
    Might look ok.
Im surprised it hasnt been tried over there already.

I suspect of Tom Gale had been made CEO instead of a succession of easily manipulated Daimler servants, it would have been done by Plymouth by now...

If they keep it simple and inexpensive enough I'll be seriously interested. Too bad it's almost guaranteed to be bloated with a bunch of expensive luxury crap.

Maybe a couple manufacturers will catch on there is still a market albeit smaller for simple vehicles. If this comes to fruition Ford may get some of my money after 20 years of no Fords!

I really like this design when it was called the Land Rover Freelander... still like it now but, Ford, so that's a firm NO.

And your opinion of the Renegade is just that, yours, I still enjoy seeing the Commando Green one in my garage every time I look at it.
