    While that may be true, that is also true of any of the modern candidates and I'd bet that the Gov't got a way better deal from the rugged Grumman body and simple and cheap to replace GM engine and transmission components. The modern candidates will cost much more when overhaul time comes, and none of the bodies will last like the Grummans.

    Just look at what flies around Alaska, older planes, many Grumman amphibians, that have been re-engined several times, 60+ years old. Then compare that to buying new.

    You are right,,The grunman is super tough. But the LLV is also one of the most uncomfortable cars in the modern world.
