With all the transmission talk, all I can think it, yall need to drive a GM 8sp(my GMC)! That thing should be thrown in the trash! It manages to be so harsh for downshifts that you will feel like a u-joint has been broken, yet it is so soft is slips for 1-2-3-4 shifts....goodness it is awful.

I would drive a ZF 9sp any day over this, however, I have only sampled a few of these as rentals.

My 2015 200 Limited 9 spd performed flawlessly for 26,000 miles. My spouse's 2017 Renegade 9 spd has done same for 17,000 miles.

nothing absolutely wrong with the 9 speed. Along as you acknowledge 4th dog clutch shift hangup sometimes.... its flawless

The issues with the 9-speed IMO are the pauses for the dog clutch gear changes and downshifts when you put your foot down to pass. Whenever you put your foot down, the transmission has no idea what to do...like it's computer is on vacation and then gets a call to come home. By the time it downshifts, it then downshifts too much, so you take your foot out of it, and then it upshifts right away again.

Having said this, the 6-speed in our Caravan suffers from the same downshift issues, so it's more of an FCA programming issue to me.

Well you might be on to something. We rented a Caravan that did the same thing when you stepped down.

Love how these companies perpetrate a bad or defective design on the public for years rather than just pulling it and admitting failure. Or investing in a major overhaul before going on to the Next Big Thing.

Perhaps the nine speed is the least of the examples but then there are the PowerShifts, Northstars, Jatco CVTs, etc where no fix is ever enough.

Guess who pays ? Gotta love em.

No. Of course not. We believe you.

Oh FFS don't make a statement like that, period. And so early into it.

I'll get comfortable in my chair.

    No FCA-PSA brands will die.......

........Until the recession hits, that is. Then we find out the REAL reason for this merger.

What do you mean "find out?" Preventing another 2008 is part of the reasons for the merger. That's not a secret.

I beleive the psa 508 wagon would work here if marketed properly.

Maybe as a compact sedan, not wagon.

There are new things running around here that look like wagons being passed off as compact something else (SUVS).

True, but very few bear much resemblance to the much-derided 70s family station wagon. If anything, most bear more resemblance to the AMC Eagle, an actual SUV and one of the original crossovers, or to a van with a low roofline.

I don't see them as wagons. Maybe as a replacement for a MPVs.

    Wagons passed off as MPVs.

What defines a wagon vs a low-slung crossover?

Call it a sporty CUV, voila, not a wagon

I agree with jerseyjoe, a wagon is a wagon... but as you say, if you call it a sporty CUV suddenly it doesn't have that wagon aura.
