Remember the new minivan is loosely CUSW. It is not the same. It is very different.
AFAIK Chrysler isn't the only one getting a version.....
Really? Dodge or Jeep? Or an Italian brand?
Jeep China will get one for sure
Mike, I was just kidding... it's definitely too wide for CUSW.
Looks like a poor man's Grand Cherokee to me......
That's exactly the market they are going for.......
As far as internal cannibalization, no one will know until it goes on sale, but I suspect the idea behind the new Compass is when people come in to see the Grand Cherokee, then realize they can't afford it, before they leave the lot, the salesman steers over to the Compass and show them a Grand Cherokee they can afford.
Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer, do we know anymore about it? First SM said they were going to do it following the Commander model, as he then proceeded to bad mouth the Commander. And granted, Commander was poorly executed under Daimler, and the same formula with better attention to detail and NOT cheapening the product with better execution may produce better results. Then a few years later he's talking about exotic SUV's and how FCA is going to do that.
Maybe, just Maybe, purely a guess, the Wagoneer will be Commander II, better executed, the Grand Cherokee with a bigger body and interior space (Three Row seating Durango with Jeep Styling). And the Grand Wagoneer will be a luxury SUV worthy of the name on a new platform or totally overhauled and enlarged platform?
That would certainly make sense. That said, it is possible the JGC will be moving to G-US at some point in which case the rumors converge.
Ah... I had not considered that since other rumors had Chrysler not using the Maserati large car platform but instead going to G or whatever...
It just keeps going in circles, doesn't it?
If that is true, then my old prediction from years and years ago, that the next big Mopars would be derived from modified versions of Ghibli/Quattroporte, would sortakinda come true.
I don't have any preconceived notions about what should or should not be coming...well, maybe just a little . I'm just curious how it's all going to play out. We've been discussing the future Jeep products for quite some time...and hopefully will always have plenty to talk about here...just getting antsy is all (it's a phase, it'll pass...lol). I want to replace my Liberty soon, just trying to decide what that's going to be...do I buy an existing vehicle next year or wait for the vehicle that's hiding behind door number 3. Until then, continue to watch, listen & learn.
Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer will try to take a bite out of Tahoe/Suburban. It's been tried before, I wish them luck. No reason why it couldn't be a worthy competitor. We'll see what happens.
The Expedition has always been...woof. I never liked Ford design.
Derivatives of LX underpin Maser large cars, Levante, future GC, etc?
Considering that grille is straight off an 80s j10, just minus about half the slots, it's more like a modern pickup with a j10 grille to me.
Hmm... we need to chat then.
Lets not jump the gun on this one. My understanding may be flawed. Its happened before
Will the G-US platform support a suspension with the wheel travel equal to the current JGC? Which is reduced wheel travel from previous versions of the JGC.
Eh, Dave or Mike, please delete my post #111 in this thread. I don't want my mis-statement causing mis-information to be out there.
