Let the speculation begin . Even if it is true given their history it would be 2024 before you see anything . Give me a real realistically priced SUV based on the midsized truck , not $60000 .

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the new Bronco yet?

The first renderings appeared when Dubya was President.

Speaking of which 2 - Auto News just posted the most revealing photos of Bronco I’ve seen to date:

Looks much better than the jelly bean designs Ford has been churning out since Mulally, but not sure I really care.

I believe in 2015 the GW was supposed to show up in the 2018 model year.

It's from Italian: seguire, to follow.

Or perhaps from the Latin seguir - to follow

Judging by the design of this, I think Jeep has some work to do on the Renegade.

Well, Jeep did since the day it launched Renegade!

The greatest feature of my brother's 2019 Compass is that it is bland, boring and it doesn't break down every other week like his Renegade did.

Not sure how it would be possible, the Renegade needs to resemble a Wrangler more. They are supposed to be in the same design family, but it looks too chunky to have any real resemblance.

Renegade seems to be selling in decent numbers outside of North America. So I guess it achieved its goal.

Still, it is good to see it get some competition.

Bringing it back on topic - I for one can’t wait see what the new Dakota will look like. I really liked the 1st —after the redesign— and 2nd generations.

How are Renegade and Bronco competitors in any way? Bronco is the size of a Cherokee or Wrangler, two size-classes above Renegade. I see a lot of Land Rover influence in the Bronco styling, though - even down to the dumb-as-sh__ writing of the model name front and back in big letters.

And, don't take this as a snark, as I'm curious to get to the bottom of this, but: how is it that Renegade is considered a reliable car in Europe yet an unreliable one in the USA when all examples are made on the exact same assembly line? Is it powertrain differences? Most EU Renegades are 1.0/1.3 turbo gasoline or 1.6/2.0 diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual or 9-speed auto - and none of those engines are offered in the USA.

On the original topic: trademarks need to be renewed every few years, or you lose the right to them. Once a mark has lapsed, any other manufacturer can use it by filing a registration. That's the sad, uninteresting, and most likely reason for this filing.

I have a first generation 96, the last year. Only has 119,000 miles. Just like the pic except mine's an all black sport. My other ride is an 02 Cummins I've had since new. The last of it's generation too. Maybe I'll buy the the last year of the DS, whatever year that turns out to be.:D

There are actually two Bronco models coming. The regular "Bronco", which is the the Wrangler competitor, and the "Bronco Sport", which is more of a Compass/Renegade competitor. The vehicle that someone posted above is the FWD-based Bronco Sport.
