Saw this old ad on Autoweek today.
Lexus is using the same thing this year " A December to remember "
Cool ad but there must be more to it as it says "RAMBLER AMERICAN SALES EVENT"
The illustration is not of a Rambler American, more likely a:
1960 Ambassador V-8 Custom Country Club 4-Door Hardtop.
The 1960 Rambler American wasn't as luxurious !!
Do you see how it says a Decem "bler" to remem "bler" taking off on the Rambler name!
They are speaking ADSPEAK. RAMBLER American Sales event in normal English.
I would agree if they didn't also sell a Rambler American at the same time.
If you were the ADMAN, which picture would you use? Big fins or no fins? Not so big or just plain little?
That Rambler would have had "Ambassador" where the "Rambler" lettering is. Since it's a four door hardtop, it would definitely be an Ambassador, but I think the ad took some liberties. The Ambassador hubcaps would have had a shield and the head of an eagle on them, not an "R". Grannie's 60 Ambassador Station Wagon was well loved in my family and I remember the details of it very well.
Since when did an adman NOT take liberties?
4 Door Hardtops were available under the Rambler and Ambassador trims.
