Jeep = Wrangler at the sales level. When you ask a client, "Which one?" they look at you like you're crazy.

That's the truth. Even in my house where we have owned a couple different models in the Jeep line up, when my wife tells me that I should just stop talking about it and go by another JEEP. Se is only referring to the Wrangler even when I am comparing the positive and negatives between the Wrangler JL, the JT, and the Cherokee. The Wrangler is the only Jeep.

I hate it when people call other SUVs "Jeeps." I mean seriously? What kind of cheesy 90's surfer rom-com were you watching where they were constantly referring to Meyers Manxs and Nissan Pathfinders as "Jeeps."

That "Jeep = Wrangler only" is already getting on my nerves too.

Down side to having such an iconic vehicle as the Halo of the brand I guess. lol
-- I mean we're nearly at that point with Dodge becoming synonymous with SRT vehicles, because nobody mentions Dart, Journey or until recently, Durango, except by name. Otherwise it's Charger/Challenger and only in the SRT variants most of the time. Justlikemarketinglikesit.

I think with the Wrangler though, it's just easier to say "the Jeep" than "the wrangler" lol; which is why people tend to speak body-code when it comes to most jeeps. SJ, CJ, XJ, YJ, JK, JL etc. Otherwise they call it by name "Renegade / Cherokee / Compass" if it's the modern variants.

In Portugal, as in many other countries, Jeep was synonymous with off-road vehicles. Thus any off-road vehicle was a "Jeep".
In Portugal offroad vehicles eventually were called "jipes". The word originates from the Jeeps used in World War 2. SUV was a term that only started to be used in the 90's.
Even if the "jipe" was from different brands it would still be a "jipe". :D

The only half successful Portuguese car brand - UMM (for Metal-Mechanic Union) - that did a semi-worthy product produced nice "jipes". They were extremely durable, amazing offroad beasts. Their production started in 1978 and the "jipe" UMM Alter launched in1986 was their most famous model. They produced it until 1996. Unfortunately they stopped producing cars and exited the manufacturing business.

There's still plenty of them in the military, fireman and even in private ownership. they're sort of a collectorscar nowadays.

Build and price is up for the 2018 Renegade, but you have to follow this link to get there.

Here is a picture of the interior with the 8.4" screen.

They should have saved the money on these changes until they can replace the 2.4 motor.

So, mainly the center console to make space for the bigger screen, and better ergonomics. Ty!

Any improvements are always welcome. I think it was smart to go ahead and offer the larger screen instead of waiting for the new engine, especially considering the target audience of the Renegade.

I wish the Limited here had the bumper from the Trailhawk.

It looks like they extended to Limited what they have done with Upland Special Edition that appeared in Europe before summer 2017.

Wow, those are some pretty drastic changes to the center console!
And IMO, these are welcome changes. They make the Renegade more "Jeepier" in the interior. Previously the center console was too similar to the 500X center console (the AC knobs were the same).
I like this FCA appraoch of incremental improvements to their models every year. It keeps the cars up to date and competitive vs other manufacturers, it forces auto journalists to re-assess their reviews every year, and say good things about these improvements. This creates positive word of mouth.

This has worked well for the Ghibli with the constant improvements every year to the car. Nice work in the Renegade!
