I have the 1990 3.9 litre Dakota and the IAC stepper motor has broken, but can't find replacement. Listed as discontinued, nothing at napa, rockauto etc. Will a different year/model work??

I see an OEM (Mopar) part# of 4288256. That part is discontinued, but still gets hits on Google.

I'd like to know as well: Is it visibly broken (how can you tell), or is it a suspicion (why)?
It seems that the pintle on mine is extended farther than it should be. Is that one of the symptoms of yours?
