Looking for mopar part# 55351218, or ideas on refurbishing existing. Appears to be noisy/binding occasionally when turning.

Update - moparpartsoverstock - indicated via email, "these parts have been discontinued by Chrysler and we can no longer get."

I have found a few (used) about 200 miles out (1 way) - via car-part.com ... day trip?

*edit - appears '96 will also fit. Changes were made in '97?

    is '95 2WD 318

The main cause of these steering joints binding up is because the coupling runs right next to the exhaust manifold. After a few years the grease in the slip joint and u-joints gets cooked. The same steering coupling issue happens on other cars and trucks.
Hopefully you can find a good one.
I used to temporarily free them by soaking the shaft/joints in a bucket of old motor oil and working the joints repeatedly until it freed up. Deceptive steering 'feel' can be dangerous, especially on black ice, etc.
1995-1996 2WD w/pwr steering should work. There are other (older) Mopar part numbers that would also work: (4773645; 4773646; 4773647; 4773649; 52079244).
    55351218 was the latest version.
