so I've read in other blogs and Forums that the new Wrangler is moving broadly to be expected in late 2016. That was from an article dated in June 2015. Yet everything before that in the 2015 year says all Jeep updates would be delayed until 2018 or 2019. Anybody know more?

"The Grand Cherokee will undergo a "mild refresh" before its redesign in 2018 or 2019, Manley said. Meanwhile, the Wrangler is 'broadly on track' with its redesign plans announced in May 2014, he said."

Pretty much everything is 2-3 years behind the original dates.

Which doesn't mean it is all bad. I know the competition is tough. But a new redesign has to carry itself for many years. Mistakes can be expensive and I do think the merged company has learned quite a bit even in just the recent years.

Ok so in May 2014 Sergio says they plan to use aluminum for Wrangler. Then in May 2015 he mentions issues with using aluminum, then others said it will be steel based. Then in June 2015 Manley says the Wrangler is on track with the 2014 plan, which was not a delayed plan but projected to be late next year. I can't seem to find anything saying the Wrangler is 2018, but I can find the Grand Cherokee delays. Am I misreading things or is it all speculation because it's definite other models are to be delayed?

Allpar lists it as 2018 and several known insiders have said it will be available in 2018.

It is what it is and I am 99% sure we will see a new Wrangler in the 2018CY at least.

Very early CY 2018 is what I was told for the new Wranglers.

This is the release schedule that was presented in 2014
    [IMG]
Renegade was released on track in late 2014
The C-suv is on track for early 2016
The cherokee facelift is on track for 2016
The new GC was scheduled for late 2017. Delayed by 6mo. at least (platform change...?)
The new wrangler was scheduled for mid 2017 and was delayed by 6mo. Shouldn't be more than that if everything is settled.

No new platform for GC, that'd be way more than a 6mo delay. You're likely looking at pushing back due to resources not available to refresh such a hot-selling vehicle so soon.

IDK why people are expecting a Wrangler for 2016. Not even Calendar Year 16 (MY 17). Maybe MID 2017 (CY 18) if they read anything in FCA's plans or on Allpar. Those sites claiming 2016 should look @ the 5 year plan image RVC posted here, it's not hard to read.

It's easier to just put out click bait than to actually research the facts.

When we were kids on a road trip with the family, we would pester my dad with the dreaded "are we there yet?". I think his answer of, "we'll get there when we get there", can be of use here. We'll see the new Wrangler when it is ready. Not one second sooner. Not one second later.

So, 3 years roughly. It will be a 2019MY, coming out in 2018 calendar?

No comment as some parts of that are still TBD.

That depends on when you started working on it, as well as from which base you started ;)

It is the funniest thing.....before I bought a new vehicle, I was really impatient for the FCA releases. Now, I know I have 4 - 5 years to play with, and I am like, "Nah...go ahead and take your time. Get every damn inch of it right....NO EXCUSES. Get about 1 year of other clowns testing the new beast under your belt, and it will land perfectly for when I am ready to consider something new."

    Ahahahahaha......perspective is a funny thing.

Originally we were hoping it would be a 2017 model year vehicle, keeping with the theme of new Wranglers (87, 97, 07) which would have meant that by now we'd be seeing some spy shots of them in the wild. But with the delays across the board at FCA and all the changes at the corporate level it looks like we're all going to be waiting for a while. :(

If they finally give us a diesel, it'll be worth the wait. My '05 KJ diesels were both amazing vehicles. Sometimes I miss them.
