Could the Wagoneer be the "real" XJ2 Jeepers have been clamoring for?

Couldn't read larry's article, but yes, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Is this new?

That would be the dream. I just can't imagine it actually happening.

    His last line is prescient.

On the plus side, at least they're still in the plan! Didn't hear a thing about 300 or Chrysler brand outside of Pacifica.

Maybe the Pacifica is going to be the only Chrysler left standing.

Could it be something as simple as Wagoneer is the Jeep version of Durango to be sold in overseas markets? Would that even make sense? It would be nice to have a 3 row Jeep here (I would love one) but it doesn't seem like that makes much sense other than Grand Wagoneer.

    Jeep wagoneer family. Interesting.
Suggests that it's not just a trim level. Would the grand Cherokee become wagoneer, and the grand be the seven seated lifted wagon?

Edit, nah. I don't think it would. It could be the more off road oriented variant.
Perhaps Wagoneer will be the name of a smaller vehicle, like Cherokee is to grand Cherokee.

Is it possible that the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer be two different lengths?

Which is why I edited. lol - if there's a name to keep, it's Grand Cherokee.

My guess is that they've been preparing a RWD replacement on GUS for the Cherokee, but based on the Cherokee's success, have decided to continue the FWD version as well.

    Predictions:

*2016-2017: The CUSW Cherokee will move to Belvidere, along with the 200. 200 production will be scaled back.

*2018-2019: The 200 will be outsourced and Belvidere will produce a CUSW Chrysler D-CUV alongside the Cherokee.

*2018: GUS RWD Wagoneer will begin production at Toledo South after the Wrangler moves and the plant is retooled. It will be slightly larger than the Cherokee and smaller than the Grand Cherokee, and will have the boxier shape of the Renegade, Patriot, KK, Commander, etc., to differentiate it from the Compass, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee.

*2018-2019: Warren Truck will begin producing the L-platform RWD 3-row Grand Wagoneer and the new Grand Cherokee. Jefferson North will then be retooled and it will produce the L-platform Durango and maybe Challenger, as well as Grand Cherokee overflow.

AFAIK this was discussed on this forum while ago. Wagoneer will IMO be a more luxurious sub-brand which will take on Range Rover on global level.

The first thing that pops into my mind is a 2-row and a 3-row. But that would overlap with the Grand Cherokee. Unless the body style is what differentiates the two -- like a Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

    Here is my take.

The new Jeep pickup might have the front end similar to the J12, (@suzq044 don't hate the fenders :D).
Now the Wrangler has always been an open air vehicle so what if the rumored 4door hardtop version uses the new J12 type front clip and this becomes the Wagoneer. True to its roots in every way. WINNER!

What if Wagoneer is the 3-row seater version of Grand Cherokee, and the Grand Wagoneer is the Extended version of the Wagoneer itself i.e. Tahoo/Suburban and Expedition/Expedition EL?

Could be. In reality I'd like them to tap into where the luxury market is going these days, which calls for an extended wheelbase that mostly benefits 2nd row passengers.
