Ram brand to be extended

by David Zatz on

The Ram brand will apparently be separated from Dodge after all. Fiat is considering selling Ram big rigs (18-wheelers), along with the existing Dodge Ram line of light and medium duty vehicles. The lifestyle Dakota is still under consideration, but two Fiat vans will be sold as Rams, one competing against Ford and the other against Mercedes. All three lines of Ram pickups/chassis cabs are set for a 2012 refresh. Ram keeps the current logo while Dodge will get a new one. Ram will be more oriented towards commercial users, akin to GMC.  For details, see the Five Year Plan.
