Carlisle to feature muscle stylist John Samsen, Wraith

by David Zatz on

John Samsen

In addition to the usual complement of big-name racers and rodders, the All-Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle, PA next week will feature a seminar by former Chrysler stylist John Samsen on “Designing the Mopar Musclecars.” Samsen will give a talk and discussion in the Midway Seminar Tent on Friday, July 9, at 2:30, with a slide show featuring designers’ concepts and prototypes that led to the production cars. He will also be in building T on Friday from 9 to 11, on Saturday, 9-11 and 2-4, and Sunday 9-11, and wrote, “I would be happy to meet Mopar fans.”

Those who are more interested in the results than the creators may be interested in the Wraith car; the restored Wraith car will be shown at Carlisle (its counterpart is in the Walter P. Chrysler Museum), along with the Wraith suit. Bob Ackerman, the chief designer of the Dodge M4S, will be there too, with memorabilia of the car.
