More PT Cruiser eulogies appear

by David Zatz on

2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Couture editionThe final PT Cruiser was made on July 9, 2010. This USA Today article by Sharon Carty memorializes the PT and looks into its decline over time. Detroit News ran a chronology of the PT Cruiser, and Chris Theodore noted in a comment to the News:

The PT Cruiser was unloved by management, and suffered from benign neglect. We had to fight the chairman to get the program approved. Many other models were planned, but never came to fruition. Other than Brian Nesbitt, Design hated the car because they felt their job was to move the state-of-the-art forward, whether the customer likes it or not.

Stephen Williams covered the last PT Cruiser for the New York Times. He pointed to the redesign as a turning point.

All three articles noted, a site split off from when the PT Cruiser first appeared at car shows.

The end comes over a million cars and one decade after the beginning.
