Etobicoke Casting to get $27 million investment

Toronto’s Etobicoke Casting Plant is set to be retooled to make new crossmembers for vehicles to start production in late 2011. The retooling and new testing and inspection equipment is to cost around $27 million. The plant, built in 1942, makes aluminum die castings, pistons, and possibly other engine parts; in 2005 it employed 451 people. The current investment will preserve 280 jobs.
