Challenger: 379 and 475 horsepower

by David Zatz on

Leaked documents reported on a variety of Web sites show the 2011 Dodge Challenger will have a choice of 305 horsepower V6, 379 horsepower (with manual transmission) Hemi, and 475 horsepower Challenger SRT8. The latter will initially produced in a special limited run, with unique white and blue seats and 392 badging and graphics.

The standard 5.7 Hemi will reach 410 lb-ft of torque with the manual transmission; the 6.4 will reach 460 lb-ft. Numbers for the automatic were not released. Both Hemis will have multiple displacement, with four cylinders deactivating when not needed.

Horsepower ratings for both engines are in line with Allpar projects from 2009.
