Belvidere to get compact Dodge

by David Zatz on

Dodge compact car

As predicted by Allpar, Chrysler has confirmed a $600 million investment in the Belvidere plant to allow for production of a compact car in late 2011. The new compact is reportedly a Chrysler-engineered car based on Fiat dimensions; it is likely to use the Fiat 1.4 liter engine for a 40-mpg version, and a retuned Chrysler World Gas Engine for other buyers.

Some believe this car will be called the Dodge Hornet. The image above is speculation based on existing cars (other images are on our Dodge Hornet page.)
