Dodge Viper speculative "spy shot"

Ralph Gilles confirmed to the Detroit News that the Chrysler board has given the 2013 Dodge Viper final approval. He said it was “not based on anything else.” (Detroit News noted speculation that it would share underpinnings with a Ferrari or Alfa Romeo, despite Gilles’ past statements, still posted on Allpar, that it would not.)

The News’ Alissa Priddle apparently saw the new Viper, saying that there was “some similarity to the [Alfa Romeo] 8C” but that the proportions were “quite different.” She quoted Gilles as saying, “Where the cabin is, relative to the wheels, is unique. The Viper cabin is very rearward and the hood is very long. Few cars in the industry are designed with those proportions any more.”

Gilles reiterated that the Viper would not get a Ferrari engine, but might get a new engine. He also said that they would use Fiat’s “awesome ability to tune cars” to make the Viper more forgiving and accessible. It will also have stability control.
