Chrysler built 908 Fiats, 1,483 VWs, more

by David Zatz on

Chrysler built 908 Fiat 500 sedans in Mexico in January, according to a company release. As expected, the 200 Convertible was not produced in January — though just 870 Sebring convertibles were made in January 2010.

Chrysler pumped out 1,483 Volkswagen Routans as well, a substantial increase over many past months and three times as many as in January 2010.

Chrysler production is up considerably over January 2010, with 25,638 cars made in January 2011 vs 21,593 made in January 2010. The company also made 114,096 minivans, crossovers, Jeeps, and trucks in January 2011 (vs just 67,030 for January 2010).

Most Chrysler vehicles are made in the US — 86,723 vehicles out of a total of 139,734. Canada took the lion’s share of the remaining production in January, at least, with Canada at 34,535 and Mexico coming in at just 18,476.
