Grand Cherokee diesel to start this week

by David Zatz on

Production of the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel for Europe is set to begin this week, according to an internal source. The luxury Jeep uses VM Motori’s new 3-liter common-rail diesel engine, which the source said was quieter and had less vibration than the Mercedes 3-liter diesel which was used in the past.

Penske recently sold its half-share of VM Motori to Fiat Powertrain; the other half is owned by General Motors.
