2012 Wrangler: changes, options

“Desetbuzz” sent us a note from “Milous,” who posted notes on the 2012 Jeep Wrangler on www.jk-forum.com (and gave us permission to reproduce it.

First, the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 and five-speed Mercedes automatic transmission were confirmed for the 2012 model year. The automatic comes with a chrome/leather shifter, hill descent control, and tip start.

Standard features include (depending on model — not all are available on all models — not complete):

  • 115V AC outlet and 12V DC outlet; 160 amp alternator and 600 amp battery
  • 16 x 7 steel wheels or 17 x 7.5  or 18 x 7.5 aluminum wheels; with P225/75R16 or P255/70R18 on+off road tires
  • 22 1/2 gallon gas tank
  • front and rear tow hooks
  • 3.21, 3.73, or 4.10 axle ratio
  • 4.1:1 rock-trac part time 4×4 system; Command-Trac shift on the fly 4×4
  • four wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control and roll mitigation
  • Dana 30 or Dana 44 front axle; Dana 44 rear axle; front and rear stabilizer bar; remote front sway bar disconnect
  • full metal doors
  • Media Center 130 (CD/MP3; RES) with audio jack

Packages include:

  • AEM dual top (black three piece hard top, freedom panel storage bag, rear defroster and wiper/washer, tinted rear and liftgate windows)
  • Leather seats (with driver’s side height adjustment, heat, and back-of-seat map pockets)
  • Mopar leather group (2-tone Katzkin leather seats, chrome exhaust tip and fuel door, coat hooks and grab handles, and door entry guards)
  • Mopar chrome group (exhaust tip, gas door, tail-lamp guards, tubular side steps); a premium chrome group adds exterior mirrors and grille
  • Connectivity (chrome and leather shift knob, leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote USB port, voice/Bluetooth, vehicle info center
  • Max tow (3.73 rear axle, class II hitch, 4-pin wiring)
  • Trailer towing (class II hitch, class V hitch, trailer sway damping, 4-pin wiring)
  • Power-convenience (power heated mirrors, power locks, power windows, remote entry, alarm)
  • Black appearance (black gas door, tail-lamp guards, side steps)
  • Half-metal doors (with manual locks, fold-away mirrors, and windows; and plastic front door window).
  • Filtered air conditioning with auto control
  • Body color or black three-piece hard tops (both come with rear window defroster and wiper/washer, as well as a storage bag)
  • Stereos: 730N media center with traffic, travel link, and voice command; or regular satellite radio
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome/leather shifter, P255/75R17 OWL on/off road tires
