Next Viper not a Dodge: confirmed

by David Zatz on

The next generation 2013 Viper will not be called a Dodge; it will instead be the SRT Viper, though it will, presumably, keep the Dodge VIN code, just as Ram does.

This fulfills the promise that SRT would become its own brand, though some had assumed that was only an internal issue.

Jalopnik was first to realize that the wording of a press release about the Conner Avenue plant re-opening was not accidental. Their story was verified by a Chrysler spokesman.

David Zatz founded Allpar in 1998 (based on a site he had begun in 1993-94), after years of writing reviews for retail trades. He has been quoted by the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Detroit News, and USA Today. Before making Allpar a full-time career, he was a consultant in organizational psychology. You can reach him by using our contact form (much preferred) or by calling (313) 766-2304
