The Virgil Exner-designed 1960 Plymouth XNR concept car is going up for bids at the RM Auctions Monterey show on August 18. This classic "idea car" was created by the legendary Chrysler designer to compete with the Corvette and was built by Ghia in Italy.

The car has been completely restored to concours condition by RM Canada. No estimate has been set for the car, but those interested in bidding probably need to have a fairly healthy bank account.

Dan Stern sent us the news, saying: "Dan Stern 100% pure car porn. Always has been, for me, ever since I first learnt of the XNR."

The XNR was featured on "Jay Leno's Garage" in August 2011. Click here to watch the video.

(Bill's note: I remember seeing photos of this gorgeous car before the public reveal. My Dad was general works superintendent for Plymouth at the time and I got a sneak peek and, while I was a bit young to think of it as "car porn," I was definitely wowed by the XNR. I always wished Chrysler would have built it.)

Thanks to Dan Stern for the tip!
