CR: Chrysler 300 2nd-best

by David Zatz on

The Hyundai Genesis topped Consumer Reports ratings of large sedans, beating the Chrysler 300 and topping the large sedan category, in the magazine’s latest review. The second-place Chrysler 300 beat the Hyundai Azera, Buick LaCrosse, and Ford Taurus. The 300 tested was the V6 with the eight-speed automatic; CR tested it as having 22 miles per gallon. It remains non-recommended because the magazine says it does not have enough reliability data.

Although Consumer Reports is considered by most journalists and many Americans to be “unbiased” because it does not accept advertising and actually buys its test vehicles, the magazine has been criticized by some observers for issues with its reporting and statistical methods. At least one observer has pointed out that not accepting advertising does not automatically eliminate bias.
