by David Zatz on

2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 Vapor Edition

For 2013, two new special editions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 will be released: the Alpine and Vapor. Both have the usual 470 horsepower V8 that automatically shuts off half its cylinders when they aren’t needed — and which powers the Grand Cherokee from 0-60 in under five seconds, with a quarter mile time in the “mid-13s,” and 60-0 braking in a mere 116 feet.

Both Alpine and Vapor have a Black Vapor Chrome finished wheels, with unique gloss black exterior appointments, including the Jeep hood badge, Grand Cherokee door badge, front grille surround and inserts, rear light bar, and step pad. The difference between the two groups is the color — Alpine being bright white, Vapor being “brilliant black.”

The 2013 Grand Cherokee SRT8 is otherwise identical to the 2012, with 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds, 60-0 braking in 116 feet, a top speed of 160 mph, various standard luxury and safety gear (forward collision warning, adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring, and such), and optional 19-speaker, 825-watt Harman Kardon GreenEdge audio system.
