Gilles: 4.5 time for SRT4 not released

by David Zatz on

Ralph Gilles posted a brief Twit, saying that Chrysler had not released the SRT Dart’s 4.5-second 0-60 time picked up by some sources, including our own presence at the dealer conference in Las Vegas. That level of acceleration would be exceptional even for high-performance cars in the four-cylinder compact class, and many believe the actual times will be closer to six seconds. That would also make it easier for the car to be released with the more-affordable front wheel drive configuration, without severe torque-steer problems.

The 4.5 second time might be accurate — Gilles did not say it was or was not. We do believe 5.4 seconds is more likely, and in tune with competitive cars.

The color, according to Mike V., is close to the Nitro Yellow Green Neon.
