A preliminary report from the NASCAR Canadian Tire series opener in Cambridge, Ontario reveals that Dodge has won the top five spots in the 50-lap race, triumphing over from Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota.

The Canadian Tire series is run by NASCAR using NASCAR-specification cars and engines, but takes place in Canada. Dodge withdrew from U.S. NASCAR racing late last year, making the announcement shortly before winning the Sprint Cup after ten years of efforts.

Fitzpatrick, who set a track record while qualifying, held the lead for Chevrolet in Lap 1, holding the lead until lap 7 when he headed down pit road with a driveshaft problem and Dumoulin (Dodge) assumed the lead. By lap 19, the top five were T. Seibert, Jason White (Dodge), Graham, Martin Roy (Dodge), and Dumoulin (Dodge); White lost several positions in lap 21. In Lap 22, Roy took the lead from Seibert, who was then passed by Dumoulin.

Top non-Dodge finishes: Chevrolet: Seventh – Ty Dillon in the No. 4 Fitzpatrick Motorsports car. Ford: Sixth – Kerry Micks in the 02 Leland/BDI/Dickies car.
