Fiat 500L pricing set

by David Zatz on

Fiat has set the price for its new, four-door Punto-based Fiat 500L at $19,100 plus $800 destination, for a total price under $20,000. The new car, built in Serbia and shipped to the US, has 42% more interior space than the 500, with the same 160 horsepower 1.4 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as Fiat 500 Abarth and Dodge Dart; an automatic and manual transmission are available, both with six speeds.

As Allpar reported months ago, models start with the Fiat 500 Pop, which comes well equipped with the six-speed manual, Koni frequency selective damping front struts, bi-halogen headlamps, 16-inch chrome-accented wheel covers, air conditioning, power locks and windows, cruise, body-color dashboard, six-speaker stereo, EVIC (trip computer), steering wheel audio controls, six-way front seats, folding rear seats, tilt/telescope steering column, cap-less fuel filler door, floor mats, and internal observation mirror. It will use the UConnect 5.0 system (Microsoft based), with voice commands and USB port. Safety features include seven airbags, reactive front head restraints, alarm, and stability control with hill start assist. The base model, then, starts at a point which many cars in the segment consider higher-middle.

The “Easy” model adds 16-inch aluminum wheels, deep-tint rear glass, body-color exterior mirror caps, front-seat center console with armrest, leather-wrapped  steering wheel, leather-wrapped shifter, instrument panel available in three colors, and 520-watt amplifier. It adds just $1,000 to the price.

Trekking adds cosmetic changes, fog lamps, 17 x 7 wheels, painted instrument panel, and black-and-brown interior. It adds another thousand dollars to Easy.

Lounge is the top of the line; based on Easy (not Trekking), it adds the dual-clutch automatic, fog lamps, chrome details, heated leather front seats with power four-way adjustments, power driver lumbar support, fore-aft adjusting rear seats with recline and tubmble, an integrated armrest with cupholders, automatic dual zone climate control, and auto-dimming rear-view mirror with compass. Buyers do pay more for this level, with a starting price of $24,995 including destination.

For the first year of production, the Premier Package will be included free with Easy, Trekking, and Lounge models; it includes rear-park assist, rear back-up camera, and Uconnect 6.5 with a 6.5-inch touchscreen and navigation. This includes the usual phone and voice commands, plus a text message reader, personalization settings, and SD card reader with USB input. Beats/satellite radio is available.
