According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, three Chrysler vehicles were among the top ten most often researched in May at nadaguides.com, the association’s consumer information website. The 2013 Dodge Dart was leading at No. 5; the Ram 1500 pickup at No. 9 and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited at No. 10.

Last May, only the Ram 1500 made it to the top 15, coming in at No. 12. None made it into the top ten.

Missing from this year’s list were the Chevrolet Captiva Sport (No. 3); Toyota Camry (No. 4); Buick Verano (No. 5); Ford Focus (No. 7); Chevrolet Equinox (No. 8); Chevrolet Camaro (No. 14) and Hyundai Sonata (No. 15)

In looking at year-over-year brand activity, Dodge inquiries were up 83%, second only to Mazda in interest growth. Jeep inquires came in third with 51% growth. Chrysler brand was ninth with a 26% increase.

All figures are based on consumer activity at nadaguides.com and are measures of unique products lookups over the month.

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for just-auto.com, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
