Doblo/Promaster City confirmed

by David Zatz on

Tofas, the Turkish joint venture with Fiat which makes the Doblo small van, announced that it would indeed be exporting a light commercial van based on the Doblo to North America, with needed modifications. They are, as predicted by Allpar months ago, to be named Ram ProMaster City, following Ford’s pattern of calling its vans Transit and Transit Connect (the latter is also made in Turkey). The plan is to export 175,000 vans to the United States and Canada between its launch (in late 2014) and 2021.

While the Doblo had been all but officially confirmed, and the name speculated with confidence, the launch date and quantity expected to be sold had been up in the air.
