Dodge wins 4 of 5 top CA-NASCAR slots

racing Dodge Challengers in Canadian Tire NASCAR series

Despite starting the 2013 Canadian NASCAR season with two finishes outside the Top 20, Scott Steckly is now back in the hunt for another championship. The Ontario driver and his #22 Dodge were firing on all cylinders in Saskatoon last night, as he drove to a first place finish, solidifying a sweep of the Canadian Tire Series’ swing through Western Canada.

“It’s amazing to be able to win two races in a row like this out west,” Steckly said. “Not many people get to do that in their career.”

Overall, on Wednesday night, Dodge drivers claimed seven of the Top 10 spots at the checkered flag. The rare mid-week race followed only four nights after the bout at the Motoplex Speedway and Event Park in Vernon, B.C.

Dodge drivers now hold the Top 4 spots in the series’ point standings, including #17 Dodge driver DJ Kennington. Struggling early on race day, his team put in a stellar effort, changing the engine in his car in just 90 minutes, leading to a fourth place finish for the Dodge driver who qualified 12th.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series is back in action on Saturday, July 27 for the National 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache in Quebec.

In the prior race, on Saturday, Scott Steckly stood atop the winner’s podium, after winning the A&W “Cruisin’ The Dub 300” in Vernon, B.C. — his first win since September of 2011. “We didn’t win at all last season and you begin to wonder if you’re ever going to win again,” Steckly said.

The race at Vernon’s Motoplex Speedway and Event Park, was a 300-lap bout dominated by Dodge entries. All but one of the Top 10 cars were from Dodge, with Steckly leading the charge.
