Dodge: nine of top ten cars in NASCAR-CT

by David Zatz on

Ontario’s Scott Steckly, driver of the NASCAR-Canadian Tire #22 Dodge, was atop the podium for the third time in a row last Saturday, after winning the National 250 at the Autodrome St. Eustache.

Steckly’s podium finish puts him atop the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series points standings, just ahead of four other Dodge drivers. It was a hard-fought win, with Steckly and driver J.R. Fitzpatrick exchanging the lead four times over the final 65 laps of the race. Side-by-side on Lap 243, Fitzpatrick spun, paving the way to victory lane for the No. 22 Canadian Tire/Sylvania Dodge.

“It was a lot of fun racing with J.R.,” said Steckly. “We got into each other a little bit, but nothing serious. It was just great short-track racing.”

St. Eustache was also a notable race for rookie Dodge driver Alex Guenette, who claimed second place. The No. 39 Dodge driver now has Top 10 finishes in three of his last four starts. Of the Top 10 finishers at the Autodrome St. Eustache on Saturday, nine were Dodge entries.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, presented by Mobil 1, is back in action next on Sunday, August 11 for JuliaWine.com 100 Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Quebec. Other races for the season are:

  • Aug 17, 2013 – Wilson Equipment 300 – Riverside Speedway, Antigonish, Nova Scotia
  •  Sept 1, 2013 – NCATS – Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Bowmanville, ON
  •  Sept 7, 2013 – Hudco Electric Supply 300 – Barrie Speedway, Oro, ON
  •  Sept 21, 2013 – Pinty’s 250 – Kawartha Speedway, Fraserville, ON
