Correction: Ram 1500 diesels scheduled – cannot be ordered

by David Zatz on

Both Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee with the VM 3-liter V6 diesel have been scheduled, according to Allpar sources. Diesel Ram production, however, is not expected to start until mid-October. The diesel will be available with the air suspension at the same time.

Jeep Cherokee ordering has reportedly been resumed, though we do not yet have word on whether full production has restarted. Sources claim that many issues appeared during testing; though some of the delay may be due to higher quality standards and the desire to have a flawless launch, some issues may be the inevitable outcome of having a large number of relatively inexperienced engineers.  Dodge Dart was subject to similar problems and also had some pre-launch problems, but so far appears to have been reliable and made to high standards.
