Burgundy ads grab headlines

burgundyThe auto press has provided wide coverage of new Dodge Durango ads which feature Will Ferrell’s character from the movie Anchorman, “Ron Burgundy.”

The ad campaign ties into the upcoming release of Anchorman 2, coming in December, and is targeted at buyers in their 30s and 40s. So far, Dodge Durango has attracted relatively young buyers for the segment, averaging in their early 40s.

The ads, somewhat harshly criticized by some Allpar readers and defended by others, keep Ferrell “in character,” but still try to convey the Durango’s advantages, which include an eight-speed automatic that boosts highway mileage, strong engines, and best in class towing.
