Charger getting “retro-modern grille”?

by David Zatz on

With speculation and reports that Charger might be getting a “retro-modern” upper grille shape, along with a Challenger-like lower grille, Suzq044 has produced a second 2015 Dodge Charger rendering which builds on her first take.

The upper grille reflects classic Dodge Charger tail-lights and following Dodge front ends, while the lower grille portion both provides primary airflow for the big SRT engines and continues the current Dodge Challenger’s theme.

The upcoming 2015 Dodge Charger, to be produced starting in calendar-year 2014, is widely anticipated to be an update which leaves most of the mechanicals alone. Some of the highlights are reported to be:

  • Eight-speed automatic with all engines (unknown: whether this will extend to pursuit cars)
  • Upgraded dashboard and seats
  • 7-inch TFT gauge-cluster display (most likely more like the one in 2014 Grand Cherokee than the fancy Dart version)
  • UConnect 2
  • 6.2 liter supercharged V8 as a high-extra-cost option over the 6.4 liter SRT V8
