Jeep does well with the rich

by David Zatz on

Jeep has been doing well in the 25 most expensive zip codes in America, according to Forbes, Polk, and Edmunds.com.

The most popular vehicle across the 25 area codes with the highest median house prices has been the Tesla Model S – taking eight top honors, including the #1 and #2 zips (in Atherton, CA, and Los Altos Hills, CA, where the median house price is $6.7 million and $5.4 million, respectively). However, Jeep Grand Cherokee shared the 10065 zip code (Manhattan, $4.9 million) with Mercedes GL; shared 10011 (also Manhattan) with the BMW 3-series; and topped 92661, in Newport Beach, CA.

Jeep Wrangler topped 11962 (Sagaponack) and 10012 (Manhattan), as well.

Various Mercedes models tended to do well in the wealthier zip codes, taking or sharing top place in ten different zips. BMW only took or shared two, while General Motors had a single zip (in Water Mill, NY) with Silverado and Ford F-series claimed two (in Aspen, CO and Hillsborough, CA). The No Japanese manufacturer ended up on top.

The cheapest median house price on the list was $3.4 million, for 92661, in Newport Beach. All the zip codes were in California or New York, except for Alpine, New Jersey; Aspen, Colorado; and Coral Gables, Florida. More than half the zips were in California. Thanks, J.P. Joans.
