Hemi Wrangler

An intrepid reader caught this vehicle out on the roads of Michigan yesterday. Normally we’d write it off as a random Wrangler owner who got a 6.4 Hemi decal and thought it would be fun to attach it (or, perhaps, who actually modified their Wrangler with the big SRT Hemi, which isn’t impossible as long as you don’t care about crashworthiness.)

The Wrangler, though, has manufacturers’ plates. Our best guess is that it wasn’t a random Wrangler owner, but a random Chrysler employee who attached the decal. Though an interesting possibility, we would not hold off buying a Wrangler until the 6.4 Hemi came out.

Update:“offroader613” wrote, “This looks like the same decal AEV puts on their Hemi conversions. They, too, have run the Michigan manufacturers plates before.”

In short, this is most likely an AEV test vehicle. AEV converts vehicles that have already been purchased by individuals; they do not convert factory vehicles “pre-sale.”
